Now that the holidays, and the meetings to appoint
or to reappoint the government officials who will lead
our many boards, commissions and committees for the
coming year are behind us, the Governing Body of the
Borough of Paramus is busy attending to the many responsibilities
that come with the elected offices of Mayor and Council.
These responsibilities include administrative and financial
decisions that have both immediate and long-term affect
upon our residents and businesses, as well as the regular
and special contact that I and the members of the council
have with government officials from other municipalities,
the county and the state, along with representatives
from many business and community organizations.
Speaking of which, I am certainly looking forward
to developing the relationship that has grown through
the years between the Office of the Mayor and the Greater
Paramus Chamber of Commerce. I have already spoken with
the Chamber’s chairperson, Ms. Teri Duda, about
continuing the periodic meetings that we started last
year to keep each other apprised of events that will
affect our community. After all, Paramus may be a suburban
town, but we are the “Crossroads of Bergen County”
and the “Number One Retail Center in the United
States by ZIP code.”
